Choosing Peace

Today is a day to remember to live a different life.  We create individually the lives we live by how we choose to experience whatever happens both internally and outside the self.  We create collectively the world we live in.  Today, let the legacy of those who died 10 years ago today be a legacy of peace, not a justification for more war.  Today, let us choose peace.
There was a time thousands of years ago when people lived in peace.  Then someone became afraid that there wouldn’t be enough resources and so began the development of the culture of fear in which we live today.  Fear begat greed, hatred and violence, the control by some of many, the control by few of resources for many.  This can only continue if we continue not to look, not to see.
We still have plenty of resources for all, if we choose to live consciously, aware of our deep connection with all that lives, including each other and the earth.  We can nurture that connection rather than continue to destroy all.  All we need do is reach out with our hearts rather than our hate.  We can change our lives and our world, but we need to make that commitment today.  It’s time to stop talking about it, thinking about it, reading about it, writing about it.  It’s time to choose.  Time to live differently.
Today I choose peace instead of war, compassion instead of judgment, love instead of hate, wisdom instead of ignorance, nurturance instead of violence, connection instead of separateness, awareness instead of unconsciousness, action instead of passivity.  Let us walk together the path to peace.
