Connecting With Spirit

There is a distinct difference in the flow of life when I’m connected with myself on a deep, creative level and when I’m not.  When I’m disconnected from myself I’m not paying attention so don’t make clear decisions based on my intuitive knowing.  I feel vulnerable when I’m disconnected, and in that vulnerability I become irritable, isolate, unconsciously eat to soothe myself, spend time with other disconnected, discontent people if I spend time with anyone.  None of this feeds my soul, to the contrary it takes me away from myself, my spirit, feeds instead the natural internal predator who loves it when I’m disconnected.

In presence, I come to realize the disconnect and can choose to do something about it.  For me, connecting with my spirit means writing, listening to music, dancing, being in nature hiking or kayaking, camping or just walking in the park, by the river, reading things that remind me who I am (right now it’s Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes), creating space and seeking out people who are positive and claim their own power in their own lives and who energize me with their energy.
Sometimes all of this takes a little effort.  No one ever said creating the life I love wouldn’t require work.  It does, but really not much because when I’m in touch with my creative self, I’m in touch with spirit in me and in the universe and everything flows.  Once I free myself from the bondage of unconsciousness and disconnect, there is a freedom and a knowing that simply guides the journey.  I’m centered and joyful so that even the mundane chores of everyday life become nourishing, and when life’s difficulties present themselves, as they will, I deal with them with much more ease.
I invite you, dear reader, as I invite myself on this cool beautiful summer morning, to take some time, and it need not be a great deal of time, to do something every day that reminds you of who you are, what you love, to feed your soul, connect with your spirit and live life from that place.

Namaste
